Living in Arizona the summers are awful for our kids, they can’t go out for long due to the extreme heat so our kids spend a lot of time indoors and bored. So, one day when my son and his friends were playing video games in his room one of them discovered a new game. They took a baseball and threw it up at the ceiling attempting to hit the ceiling fan. They missed a few times but after a few tries they had success! The Baseball hit the fan blade and the baseball launched across the room and out into the hall. Apparently they thought this was great and started launching other items into the fan: socks more baseballs, golf balls and his sister’s stuffed animals.
They decided to take this game out into the living room because they would have more room to play. The boys turned on the music got out a laundry basket and brought out all of my daughters stuffed animals and began launching innocent stuffties across the room, catching them in the basket. I guess they lost track of time because when my daughter and I returned home we walked in the house just in time to see Fluffy my daughter’s stuffed animal go flying across the room and a teenage boy with a laundry basket lunging forward to catch the flying object. He caught Fluffy and yelled “you’re out”!
O’ they were out all right, my son turned off the music and started apologizing. I asked them what were they thinking and my son said, “Have you seen how far that fan can hit? It’s awesome!”
It’s amazing what teenage boy’s come up with when they have nothing to do.
