Eco Smart Organizing

I know how easy it is to just toss that batery in the garbage without much thought to where it goes. We need to remember the next time we are ready to throw something away…anything, stop because there just might be a better place for that trash to go.
For instance:

Paints, fertilizers, mercury thermometer, rechargeable batteries.
Bring them to your town’s hazardous waste collection site for recycling or proper disposal.

E-waste: computer monitors, printers, TVs, fax machines, laptops (all contain dangerous metals)
Return items to manufactures that have take back programs or find a nearby e-waste recycler at www.eiae.org

Appliances: stoves, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines
Donate working items to a charity (such as The Salvation Army or St. Vincent de Paul). For broken appliances, call your towns recycling center-they may use them for scrap metal.
