Going Green in your kitchen

Eco-friendly drain cleaner – Most of us either have or have had a slow moving drain and if you were like me you poured Liquid Plumber or Drano down the drain to clean up the mess. Unfortunately these products contain harsh, toxic chemicals and I don’t want these chemicals washing down the drain into our water supply anymore. So, I looked for and found a formula for an eco-friendly drain cleaner that you can create with products already in your home. If you have a slow moving drain pour ½ cup of baking soda mixed with ½ cup of white vinegar down the drain and wait 20 minutes, then pour 2 quarts of boiling water down the drain and in most cases it will clear the drain. If not you have 2 options, repeat the procedure or use a plumbers snake to unclog the drain. You can find a quality snake (20 – 25 feet long) at your local hardware store for about $25.00 and both of these options provide you with a much safer ways to clean or clear your drain.
Not only is vinegar and baking soda great for clearing a clogged drain, but using the same combination on vinegar, baking soda and hot water will leave all of your drains smelling great!
