Now the kids are back in school and everything is alright, right? If your house is anything like mine it can be chaotic, busy and sometimes completely out of control. I have two kids to get out the door at different times and different schools.
I used to scream and beg them to get ready and finally when we got to school someone would say,”I forgot my…..” back home we would rush and then back to school where I would have to sign them in because we were late. I got tired of that routine, moreover, I got tired of my kids lacking in responsibility. So, we created a morning routine and although it is not perfected we are less stressed and on time.
A morning and night routine is vital to keeping things moving smoothly. It also teaches self discipline and responsibility which are traits we want our kids to have. First I sat down with my kids and we talked about everything we needed to get done before heading out to school. We then created an outline on paper of each persons responsibilities and when we all agreed it was fair I typed it up and posted it on our refrigerator.
Here is our Night Routine:
All backpacks must be packed and ready by the front door
